Grandpa hiked Mount Marcy in 1955.

This is definitly the view across Marcy Dam Pond looking up at the highest point in NY state, Mount Marcy.

Google Earth confirms:

I did not align the yellow lines very carefully, they're not literally the edge of the photo's view

I've hiked Mount Marcy twice and camped at Marcy Dam several times. Here's a photo I took in August 2019 (before having seen Grandpa's photo!). Marcy Dam was damaged in Hurricane Irene in 2011 and will not be rebuilt.
